Foodie Friday: Raw Chocolate Mousse

This is one of our absolute favorite recipes around the DeShaw home! It’s organic, raw, creamy, and chocolatey. What’s not to love?!Raw Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients:

1 can coconut milk
1/2 c raw cacao nibs
1 c pitted dates
1/2 c organic virgin coconut oil

Directions
1) Open can of coconut milk and empty into your vitamix
2) Add cacao nibs, blend until smooth
3) Add dates, blend until smooth
4) Add coconut oil, blend until smooth (you could stop here and enjoy it as a pudding if you like!)
5) Pour into small dishes or 1 large dish (if you’d rather scoop) and refrigerate until firm and enjoy!

Spill It

I’ve been thinking a lot about how much I believe women are afraid to tell people what their biggest goals and dreams are– including myself. (Maybe it’s men and women alike, but I mostly talk to ladies about this.) I was getting pumped up to write a blog about this last week when I realized although I have let out bits and pieces of my wildest dreams to my close friends and family….oh crap….. I haven’t sat down with any one person and told them my craziest dreams—all of them— and in full detail and specificity!

Because I’m a dreamer, I think about my goals and ideas in great detail. I get fired up thinking about what could be. I had the realization I’ve only really been voicing the parts of my dreams I feel I will be accepted and encouraged on. How many of us do that? I tend to keep the wildest and craziest to myself in order to protect them (hide it under a bushel much?!)– which is the opposite of what I really believe people should do if they’re serious about making them happen. So, with the intention of making 2013 amazing I decided to ignore what my fear was telling me and I scheduled a date with another dream-chaser in my life so we could get all of those dreams out of our heads and onto paper. (iphone photo below from my meeting with Megan Linton)

When we tell supporters in our lives what our goals and dreams are two very exciting things begin to happen:

1) We automatically get accountable for our dreams (which is why I think most of us don’t share in the first place and one of my favorite reasons to tell people my dreams– I need accountability in my life!)

and 2) This is the really beautiful one. Somehow, someway….and I have seen this happen over and over…resources start to become available to you to help make your dreams happen.

I want to encourage you today to make a date! Call someone you trust and agree on a date to spill all of your dreams, even the vulnerable ones. And in detail. And see what happens afterwards— it’s going to be crazy beautiful!

Because you are a (very special/supa fly) blog reader I want to share a dream that is on my heart for the near future… I want to coach and consult with women, especially women entrepreneurs, to help them recognize the call on their life and help them strategize creative/genius marketing, banish fears, and create plans to get there (with, of course, some guidance on life-lovin’ goodness along the way!).

Happy dream chasing:)

Press: howheasked.com

Mattye and Woody had the sweetest proposal! Everyone loves Mattye’s reaction, but truth be told, what I love most is that this is Mattye day in and day out. She lives with so much excitement and joy and it reminds me to live on purpose.

Team Hangout: New Profile Pics and First Friday

Since about this time last year I’ve had it on my heart to grow my photography business into a photography team. I’m proud to say we’ve done it! (and a website is in the works to reflect this growth in our business! More on that in about a month!) Brent will still be a part of the team, but we needed to free up some of his time so he could chase his dreams as well. We’ve also introduced more photography packages to suit budget conscious brides. Life and work is so much better when it’s shared–we are so excited about this camaraderie!
Here are a handful of photos from our recent hangout! Meet Jim, Caitlin, and Gina (and you know me!)
First the cute…
And secondly, the out-takes:)(No, I’m not screaming, that is how I look when I’m laughing at Gina sticking her bootie out while I’m having my photo taken)First photography family pic!And after our meeting we went down to first Friday in Downtown Brunswick to peruse through some books, vintage clothes, and test some wine. And we can’t forget Brent in this post:)

Happy Monday!
