Last week’s post about Branding My Life ended up more popular of a post than I anticipated, so this week I wanted to dive in again with sharing another word I chose while I’m “branding my life.”
If you didn’t get a chance to read last weeks post you can read where I talk about simplicity here, but just to recap I am going through a process of picking words to define what I want my personal life to look like now and for the future. I’ve been realizing how important it is to take time to make goals, especially in my personal life. ”If you aim at nothing you will hit it every time.” -Zig Zigler
Today the word I chose that I want to share with you is freedom.
Freedom is so important to me. I am talking about the kind of personal freedom where no circumstances can hold me back from chasing my dreams or effect my perspective. I couldn’t think of a better photo to explain what freedom means to me personally. It is like a breath of fresh air.

Here’s how I’m wanting this to look in my life:
1)Freedom From Social Norms/Others Opinions
Slim down work schedule and don’t feel pressure to work 9-5 just because “that’s what people do”
Don’t accept things just because they are the way they are. Carve my own path.
Here are a few socially normal things in our culture I don’t want to accept for myself: overworking, being “busy” constantly, being overweight and/or having health problems because of our american diet/lifestyle, overstimulation through media = cloudy mind/lack of focus
I love this quote from Mark Twain, “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”
Go with my intuition, don’t second guess
Pursue my ideas/inspiration with passion
Don’t ask other people their opinion. It doesn’t matter what they think anyways.
2)Financial Freedom
Live Debt Free
Live by a Budget
Invest for the future
Freedom to give
3)Freedom Through Physical Health
I touched a little on this on number one, but if it is anything I can help through diet and exercise I never want health to be an obstacle.
4)Freedom in Time
This one depends on a lot of other categories, but I still felt it was important enough to include. I feel like time is the most precious thing available.
Have the freedom/mobility to be able to “up and go” to help people I love.
This time freedom also allows me to travel, do and see new things, and further enjoy my life.
And the best for last…
5)Freedom Through Faith
It is becoming more and more apparent to me how much I need God in my life. Along with realizing this comes the need to leave time in my schedule to pray. Every single day.
Trust God always.
Again like last week, this list is a work in progress, but I still wanted to share! Please leave comments with your thoughts and ideas!
Xo,
Sarah DeShaw
